Multiverse-Portals: portals between worlds

Creating a portal with a frame, setting the destination, entry permissions, and common errors when configuring transitions.

Updated August 13, 2026

Multiverse-Portals turns a selected region into a gateway: a player walks in and ends up in another world or location.

Creation

/mvp wand
left and right click on the corners of the area
/mvp create resource w:resource
/mvp modify dest w:resource

Destinations can be:

  • w:world_name — to a world;
  • p:portal_name — to another portal;
  • e:warp — to a warp point;
  • l:world:x,y,z — to coordinates.

Permissions

lp group default permission set multiverse.portal.access.resource true

This is how you lock down service and premium worlds.

Design

A portal does not have to be made of obsidian: any frame will do, with water, air or glowing blocks inside. Add a sign and a hologram with the name: players should not have to guess where the passage leads.

Common mistakes

SymptomCause
The portal does not workNo destination set (dest)
It sends you to the wrong placeThe destination points to a world rather than a location: the player lands at the world spawn
No permissionThe access permission has not been granted to the group
The portal worked only onceThe player is standing inside the portal region: set up an exit zone off to the side
