Menus and interfaces (DeluxeMenus)
How to build a server menu: items, icons, commands, display conditions, and linking with placeholders.
Updated August 13, 2026
A menu is a chest interface with icons: navigation, shop, profile, events. You build it with a plugin like DeluxeMenus or ChestCommands.
Example item
menu_title: '&aMain Menu'
size: 27
items:
spawn:
material: COMPASS
slot: 11
display_name: '&bSpawn'
lore:
- '&7Teleport to spawn'
left_click_commands:
- '[player] spawn'
shop:
material: EMERALD
slot: 13
display_name: '&aShop'
view_requirement:
requirements:
perm:
type: has permission
permission: server.shop
left_click_commands:
- '[player] shop'
Features
- Different actions on left-click and right-click.
- Display conditions based on permissions, balance, or world — via PlaceholderAPI.
- A price per click: money is deducted before the command runs.
- Open the menu with a command, an item in hand, or a click on an NPC.
Best practices
- Keep nesting to no more than 2 levels: players get lost.
- Use recognizable items as icons, not identical pieces of paper.
- Always include “Back” and “Close” buttons.
- Check how the menu looks on Bedrock: the interface renders differently there — Bedrock and crossplay.
Replacing commands
Menus lower the barrier to entry a lot: players don't memorize twenty commands, they just click icons. On a server with a large audience of newcomers, this has a noticeable effect on retention — Events and retention.
