How to play with friends

Three ways to play together — your own server on Millida Hosting, a LAN world, and joining by address. What the launcher offers for this.

Updated October 24, 2026

There are three ways: your own server, a LAN world, or a shared server by address. For playing online with friends from other cities, only a server works.

Your own server on Millida Hosting

The server keeps running even when your computer is off, and friends can join by address from anywhere.

  1. Open the “My server” section in the launcher and click “Create server” (if you already have a server — “New server”). You need a Millida account for this.
  2. Choose a plan. There is a free one — for playing with two or three people, with limitations: Free server: what you can and can't do.
  3. Choose the version and core. For playing with mods — a modpack; your friends must have the same modpack installed.
  4. Send the server address to your friends.

Once the server exists, each friend gets an “Invite to play” button in the “Friends” section.

For details on creating and setting up a server, see How to create a Minecraft server: 5 ways and How to invite friends and what to send them.

LAN world

This works if you and your friend are on the same network — at home or on the same Wi-Fi.

  1. Launch a singleplayer world.
  2. Press Esc → “Open to LAN” → “Open world to LAN”.
  3. Your friend launches the same game version with the same mods and opens “Multiplayer” — the world appears in the list automatically.

The world is available only while your game is open. The launcher does not tunnel a LAN over the internet — friends from another city need a server.

Joining a server by address

  • From the launcher: in the servers section, enter a name or address in the “Server name or address” field and click “Play” — the launcher will pick the right game version and connect on its own.
  • Save the address in a modpack: open the modpack → “Worlds and servers” tab → “Add” → “Server by address”. The server will appear in the “Multiplayer” list.
  • From the game: “Multiplayer” → “Add server” → paste the address.

If a friend is playing on a server right now, the launcher will show a notification with a “Join them” button.

Party

In the launcher you can put together a party with friends: members suggest where to play — a server, a modpack or a Minecraft version — and go there together. A party requires a Millida account. A party has a shared voice channel — see Voice chat in game and in the launcher.

If you can't connect
