Simple Hats is an expandable cosmetic hat mod that allows users to define their own hats with options such as variants, dyes, particle effects, and seasons.

Simple Hats is a JSON-configurable cosmetic hat mod that allows users to define their own hats with various additional options such as variants, dye-ability, particle effects, and seasonality.
There are almost 300 custom hats included in the mod by default that users can add/remove/change as they like.
Other Features:
- Hats can be obtained from grab-bags (Open with right-click) that drop from hostile mobs, or found in various loot chests.
- Unwanted or duplicate hats can be recycled to craft new or upgraded bags in order to get new or rarer hats.
- Hats can be placed on a craft-able hat-stand to show them off.
- Some hats have variant models/textures that can be cycled in the crafting grid.
- Some hats are dyeable just like normal leather, and washed off in a cauldron.
- Some hats have different particle effects that can be seen in third person, or on another player.
- Additionally, there is a season system where during certain times of the year, special grab-bags drop from normal bags.
Dependencies (Fabric/NeoForge 1.21.1 and above):
- (Required) Accessories: Hats are equipped through Accessories
- (Required) owo-lib: Handles SimpleHats config files
Dependencies (Forge 1.20.4 and below):
- (Required) Curios: Hats are equipped in a cosmetic Curio slot
- (Optional) JEI: Simple Hats has compatibility for adding custom recipes to JEI
- (Optional) Optifine: If Optifine is installed, many hats will have emissive textures automatically enabled
Dependencies (Fabric 1.20.4 and below):
- (Required) Trinkets: Hats are equipped in Trinket's "Hat" slot
- (Required) Cloth Config: Used for non-JSON config options
Optional:
- (Optional) Continuity or Optifine+Optifabric: If either are installed, many hats will have emissive textures automatically enabled
- (Optional) Mod Menu: Simple Hats has compatibility with Mod Menu to make config accessible in-game

Install Millida Launcher
The launcher is free: download it at millida.net/launcher and sign in with any nickname.
Click “Install” on this page
The launcher opens and installs the mod for Minecraft 1.12.2–26.1.2 on Fabric, Forge or NeoForge automatically, together with its dependencies: Cloth Config API, oωo (owo-lib).
Launch the game
A profile with it appears in the launcher: click “Play”.

Install Fabric, Forge or NeoForge
The loader must match the game version of the mod file, for example Minecraft 26.1.2. After installing it, a separate profile appears in your launcher.
Download the file for your version
In the version list above, pick the file simplehats-neoforge-26.1.2-0.4.1.jar (1.4 MB) for your game version and loader.
Put it in the mods folder
The folder is inside .minecraft (Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\mods). If it does not exist, create it. Required dependencies go there too: Cloth Config API, oωo (owo-lib).
Launch the loader profile
Open “Mods” in the main menu: Simple Hats should be in the list.
On a server
A server on Fabric, Forge or NeoForge
The mod only works on a server with the same loader and game version, for example 26.1.2.
File goes into the server’s mods folder
Stop the server, put the mod file into the mods folder and start the server again.
Use the “To server” button
