Archive of past seasons
How to preserve worlds from past seasons and give access to them: storage, viewing mode, load, and what it gives the community.
Updated August 13, 2026
An archived world is an underrated thing: players come back to look at their old builds and bring their friends along.
How to do it
- Before the wipe, download the world — Download the world.
- Keep the archive locally (and in the cloud).
- Optionally, connect it as a separate world in spectator mode — Multiverse.
/mv import season3 NORMAL
/mv modify set gamemode spectator season3
/mv modify set monsters false season3
Plus a region-based build ban — WorldGuard.
Load
Every loaded world takes up memory and ticks. Your options:
- Keep the archive unloaded and load it on demand.
- Open the archive for a week after the wipe, then disable it.
- Store it as files only, without connecting it to the server.
The last option is the cheapest and usually sufficient.
What it gives you
- A wipe stops being a loss: builds don't disappear, they move to a museum.
- Material for content: screenshots and videos about the project's history.
- A sense of history for the community.
Schematics
An alternative to a whole world is to save the best builds as schematics and move them into the new season as monuments — Schematics.
