☣️ GasMask Addon

Do you want caves to feel more dangerous again?

GasMask Addon adds toxic underground zones to Minecraft Bedrock. The deeper you go, the more dangerous the air becomes, and you will need a gas mask with filters if you want to explore safely.

This version is a lot more complete than the old one. It now has a full guide book, personal settings, operator world settings, filter percentage stored inside each mask, configurable damage, configurable effects, toxic dimension options and optional compatibility with Novelty API.

☣️ How it works

By default, the Overworld becomes toxic underground.

The deeper you go, the stronger the contamination becomes.

Default Overworld levels:

• Safe: above Y 44
• Light contamination: Y 44 to Y 21
• Medium contamination: Y 20 to Y -3
• Severe contamination: Y -4 and below

If you enter a toxic zone without protection, you can receive toxic fog, Nausea, Weakness and direct gas damage depending on the zone.

Wearing a gas mask with a working filter protects you from the toxic air.

🌫️ Toxic Fog

GasMask includes custom green toxic fog for cave exploration.

The fog changes depending on the contamination level, so deeper zones feel more dangerous.

Players can disable the fog only for themselves from Personal Settings if they prefer a cleaner screen.

🎭 Gas Masks

The addon includes 4 gas masks:

Iron Gas Mask 206 2 Iron Ingot Better

Diamond Gas Mask 306 3 Diamond Strong

Netherite Gas Mask 506 3 Netherite Ingot Best

All masks are enchantable and work as helmet-slot equipment.

The better the mask, the slower the filter drains.

Netherite Gas Mask is also fire resistant.

🧪 Gas Filters

Gas Filters are now much more important.

Each mask stores its own filter percentage.

A new mask starts Empty. When you enter toxic air with an empty mask, the addon automatically consumes one Gas Filter from your inventory and loads that mask to 100%.

The filter percentage stays with that exact mask, even if you:

• Move it in your inventory
• Put it in a chest
• Give it to another player
• Remove and equip it again

If the filter reaches 0% and you do not have another Gas Filter, the mask stops protecting you.

The addon also shows a warning when your filter reaches 20% or less, unless you disable that warning.

⚙️ Gas Filter Recipes

Gas Filters can be crafted using Coal or Charcoal.

Each recipe gives 2 Gas Filters.

Main ingredients:

• Leather
• Coal or Charcoal
• Iron Ingot
• Paper

🧰 Gas Mask Recipes

The Basic Gas Mask is crafted using Leather, Glass Panes, Iron Ingots and Gas Filters.

The upgraded masks use the previous mask as a base:

• Iron Gas Mask: upgrade from Basic Gas Mask with Iron Ingots
• Diamond Gas Mask: upgrade from Iron Gas Mask with Diamonds
• Netherite Gas Mask: upgrade from Diamond Gas Mask in the Smithing Table using a Netherite Upgrade Template and Netherite Ingot

📘 GasMask Guide & Settings

Every player receives the GasMask Guide & Settings book after joining or respawning if they do not already have it.

Use the book to open the addon interface.

The guide includes:

• How the addon works
• Gas masks
• Gas filters
• Toxic zones
• Contamination levels
• Face Slot compatibility
• Settings explanation

This makes the addon easier to understand inside the game without needing to return to the description every time.

👤 Personal Settings

Each player has personal settings.

These only affect that player, not the whole world.

Personal settings include:

• Toxic Fog - show or hide the GasMask fog
• Mask Breathing - enable or disable breathing sounds
• Low Filter Warning - show or hide the warning at 20% filter or less

This is useful in multiplayer because one player can keep the full atmosphere while another player can disable fog or sounds.

🌍 World Settings

World Settings are only for operators or the world owner.

Normal players cannot change global settings.

World settings are split into clear sections so the configuration is not messy.

Toxic Dimensions

By default:

• Overworld: Enabled
• Nether: Disabled
• The End: Disabled

Operators can enable toxic zones in the Nether or End if they want a harder world.

Contamination Levels

The Overworld has 3 toxic levels:

• Light
• Medium
• Severe

Default values:

• Light starts at Y 44
• Medium starts at Y 20
• Severe starts at Y -4

The values must follow this order:

Light Y > Medium Y > Severe Y

Nether and End do not use Y levels. Instead, operators can choose their severity:

• 1 - Light
• 2 - Medium
• 3 - Severe

Default values:

• Nether: Medium
• The End: Severe
