ModernShaders is a performance-minded shader pack for Minecraft (1.16+) on Iris or OptiFine. It aims for a clean, atmospheric look: believable light, lively water and a smooth day/night cycle, without a heavy hit on frame rate. Features Soft shadows: a warped shadow map puts the detail near the player, and filtered edges avoid harsh pixelated shadows. Godrays: sunbeams and moonbeams that are blocked by terrain and break up through leaves and gaps. Water: animated waves, clear shallows that deepen into blue-green, refraction, and stronger reflections at grazing angles. Reflections: screen-space reflections on water and rain-wet ground, with a specular highlight fallback on other surfaces. Lighting: warm orange-to-yellow torchlight, and glowing glowstone, lanterns, sea lanterns and lava. Atmosphere: smooth sunrise, sunset and night transitions, distance fog tinted by the sky, and ACES tone mapping with automatic exposure so caves and daylight both read well. Performance Pick LOW, MEDIUM or HIGH in Shader Options, or tune shadow softness, shadow detail, reflection quality, godray samples and wave height individually. On weaker hardware, lower the shadow samples and reflection steps first. Installation Place the .zip (don't extract it) in .minecraft/shaderpacks/, then choose it under Options > Video Settings > Shaders. Known limitations This is an early release. The Nether and End use Overworld-style skies and will look off, and glass and ice are approximated. Please report bugs, ideally with the log from logs/latest.log.
