I do not provide any guarantees about Krypton's stability, compatibility with other mods, or support for every possible setup out there.
Support for this mod is provided on a "best-effort" basis.
I have held down a very demanding job since November 2021. I consider this mod to be effectively feature-stable and will generally only provide updates for new Minecraft versions on an as-needed basis, based on my personal availability.
Don't ask if you can adopt this mod. I've done this few times before. It has not gone well, so don't ask.
What's Krypton?
Krypton (from Ancient Greek kryptos, "the hidden one") is a Fabric mod that attempts to optimize the Minecraft networking stack. It derives from work done in the Velocity and Tuinity projects.
Krypton contains several optimizations, including:
- Highly optimized Netty handlers derived from the Velocity proxy, which I am the developer of. These handlers have seen real-world usage and extensive profiling, and strategically deploy native code where it makes the most sense.
- Flush consolidation to lower server CPU usage (and reducing the impact from hardware security vulnerabilities which exploit speculative execution) and lower server tick times.
- Micro-optimizations to reduce memory usage and improve packet serialization speeds.
Compatibility
Krypton should work anywhere where a Minecraft can run - naturally, however, it is tuned for Linux.
I try to ensure that Krypton will work with the Fabric API, Lithium, and Sodium. Support beyond these mods is provided on a best effort basis.

With Millida Launcher
Install Millida Launcher
The launcher is free: download it at millida.net/launcher and sign in with any nickname.
Click “Install” on this page
The launcher opens and installs the mod for Minecraft 1.16–26.3 on Fabric automatically.
Launch the game
A profile with it appears in the launcher: click “Play”.
Manually
Install Fabric
The loader must match the game version of the mod file, for example Minecraft 26.3. After installing it, a separate profile appears in your launcher.
Download the file for your version
In the version list above, pick the file krypton-0.3.2.jar (263 KB) for your game version.
Put it in the mods folder
The folder is inside .minecraft (Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\mods). If it does not exist, create it.
Launch the loader profile
Open “Mods” in the main menu: Krypton should be in the list.
On a server
A server on Fabric
The mod only works on a server with the same loader and game version, for example 26.3.
File goes into the server’s mods folder
Stop the server, put the mod file into the mods folder and start the server again.
Use the “To server” button
On Millida Hosting, the button at the top of the page uploads the file to your server and restarts it for you.

Which Minecraft versions does Krypton work on?
There are files for 1.16–26.3, 22 versions in total. The newest is 26.3.
Is Krypton for Forge or Fabric?
Only for Fabric: 1.16–26.3. There are no files for Forge or NeoForge: a mod for another loader will not start.
Does Krypton need other mods?
The author lists no required dependencies: the Fabric loader is enough.
Does Krypton work on a server?
Yes. Krypton works both in singleplayer and on a server.
Where can I download Krypton safely?
