Core builds: fresh or proven
How to choose a core build: how a fresh build differs from a proven one, when to update, and how to roll back.
Updated August 13, 2026
Within a single game version, the core is released in builds: Paper #500, #501, and so on.
Latest or pinned
| Mode | Who it's for |
|---|---|
| Latest build on every startup | Small servers where fresh fixes matter |
| Pinned build | Large projects: predictability matters more |
In Millida, you select the mode in “Settings” → “Core and version” — Core and version.
When to update the build
- A vulnerability or dupe fix is released — update immediately.
- A plugin requires a fresh API — update as needed.
- It's just “a new release” — every 2–4 weeks, during a maintenance window.
How to roll back
Pin the previous build in the settings and restart. The world isn't affected by changing builds within a single version.
Forge and Fabric
They have their own loader version, and it matters more: modpacks require a specific build — Forge. Don't update it unless you need to.
Verification
After changing the build, read the first 100 lines of the log: incompatible plugins will show up immediately — Logs, Update runbook.
