How a modded Minecraft server works
Minecraft server hosting with mods starts in the panel: the Modrinth, CurseForge and Feed The Beast catalogs are built in, and the loader and Java version are picked for you. Need your own jar? Upload it over SFTP on any paid plan.

Mods and plugins are different things, and people mix them up all the time. Plugins (Paper, Purpur, Spigot) live only on the server, so players join with a normal client. Mods (Forge, Fabric, NeoForge, Quilt) change the game itself, so the same modpack must be installed on the server and on every player.
In the Millida panel a modpack installs straight from the catalog: you choose it, and the system sets up the right loader and Java version. A pack missing from the catalog is not a dead end. On paid plans the mods and plugins folders are open through the file manager and SFTP, so you can upload archives or single jars.
Memory for a modpack is counted separately from players. Hundreds of mods can eat several gigabytes before the first player even joins. That is why heavy packs go on paid plans, while the free 2 GB plan runs vanilla worlds and light packs.
How much memory a modpack needs
A rough guide: a light pack with a few dozen mods and a small group fits the smaller paid plans. Most popular modpacks want more memory, and heavy technical packs with many players want the larger tiers. If a world loads in jerks, check render distance and one overloaded mod before buying more RAM.
What your players need to join
Every player needs a client with the same modpack version and the same loader. The easiest way is to send friends a link to the modpack from the same catalog, so versions match automatically. Bedrock players cannot join modded worlds, because mods exist only in Java Edition.
عمومی سوالات
Can I run a CurseForge modpack that is not in your catalog?
Yes. Every paid plan opens the file manager and SFTP. Upload the modpack archive or single .jar files into the mods folder and start the server. The download limit applies only to the one‑click catalog.
Will a modpack run on the free plan?
A light one will. The free plan has 2 GB of memory, which handles vanilla worlds and small packs. Large modpacks run out of memory and crash while generating the world, so they belong on a paid plan.
What is the difference between Forge, Fabric and NeoForge?
They are three separate mod loaders, and every mod is written for one of them. Forge has the biggest library of heavy packs, Fabric is lighter and updates quickly, NeoForge is a Forge fork. Quilt is also supported.
How do I update a modpack without losing my world?
Make a backup first, then update. Some mods change blocks and items, so a few builds can vanish after an update. Paid plans keep backups for 30 days, and you can also download a copy of the world.
