Consumable Optimizer!

This mod enforces more client-sided processing when handling consumable items (any food item).

Information

By default, Minecraft requires the user to wait for a server response before consuming an item. While this delay is hardly noticeable on low ping, it becomes much more noticable on high ping and causes players to be stuck in an eating animation until the server eventually responds. This optimizer ensures all of that processing is done client-side rather than server-side, allowing items to be comsumed with no delay and on the exact tick it should be finished. The server still applies the item's effects (such as absorption or regeneration from a golden apple) while the client handles the actual eating process.

High ping can also occationaly causes desyncs when consuming an item, forcing the server to restart the eating process for the player. This further slows the overall process of consuming an item down even more and makes it feel inconsistent. This optimizer fixes this, by cancelling these recalls from the server when unneeded.

Server Opt-Out

On servers using popular anti-cheats, such as Grim or Vulkan, it's unlikely for Consumable Optimizer to flag. However, if your server has reports of Consumable Optimizer causing flags or you don't want your player base using the mod, you can switch it off for your players.

Consumable Optimizer uses WalksyLib's server opt-out, so install the WalksyLibControl plugin (Spigot, Paper and Folia, 1.20.5+) and run:

/wlcontrol disable consumableoptimizer or /wlcontrol disablewithreason consumableoptimizer "Consumable Optimizer is not allowed on this server"

With Millida Launcher

  1. Install Millida Launcher

The launcher is free: download it at millida.net/launcher and sign in with any nickname.

  2. Click “Install” on this page

The launcher opens and installs the mod for Minecraft 1.21–26.3 on Fabric automatically, together with its dependencies: Dependency.

  3. Launch the game

A profile with it appears in the launcher: click “Play”.

Manually

  1. Install Fabric

The loader must match the game version of the mod file, for example Minecraft 26.3. After installing it, a separate profile appears in your launcher.

  2. Download the file for your version

In the version list above, pick the file ConsumableOptimizer-2.2.3+26.3.jar (140 KB) for your game version.

  3. Put it in the mods folder

The folder is inside .minecraft (Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\mods). If it does not exist, create it. Required dependencies go there too: Dependency.

  4. Launch the loader profile

Open “Mods” in the main menu: Consumable Optimizer should be in the list.

Consumable Optimizer works on the player’s side only: there is no need to install it on a server.
