Ecotones is a biome overhaul mod for Fabric that attempts to capture the essence of the real world's flora by filling each biome with life, where each generated tree, shrub, and rock is unique in where it generates and the shape. The end result is biome generation that feels natural and incredibly diverse, where even the same biome can feel different from one corner to the other. Currently, the mod adds over 70 distinct biomes, or over 200 when considering variants.
To use this mod, you need to use the "Ecotones" world type when making a new world, or set "level-type=ecotones" when making a new server.

Mod compatibility

Install Millida Launcher
The launcher is free: download it at millida.net/launcher and sign in with any nickname.
Click “Install” on this page
The launcher opens and installs the mod for Minecraft 1.19.2–1.20.1 on Fabric or Quilt automatically.
Launch the game
A profile with it appears in the launcher: click “Play”.
Manually
Install Fabric or Quilt
The loader must match the game version of the mod file, for example Minecraft 1.20.1. After installing it, a separate profile appears in your launcher.
Download the file for your version
In the version list above, pick the file ecotones-0.9.3.jar (1.8 MB) for your game version and loader.
Put it in the mods folder
The folder is inside .minecraft (Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\mods). If it does not exist, create it.
Launch the loader profile
Open “Mods” in the main menu: Ecotones should be in the list.
Minecraft 1.20.1 runs on Java 17: with a different Java version the game may close right after launch.

There are files for 1.20.1, 1.20, 1.19.2. The newest is 1.20.1.
Is Ecotones for Forge or Fabric?
There are files for Fabric: 1.19.2–1.20.1 and for Quilt: 1.19.2–1.20.1. There are no files for Forge or NeoForge: a mod for another loader will not start.
Does Ecotones need other mods?
The author lists no required dependencies: the Fabric or Quilt loader is enough.
Which Java does Ecotones need?
