互換性

Starlightは専用サーバーまたはクライアントのどちらにでもインストールできます。両方にインストールする必要はありません。サーバーにStarlightを導入している場合、クライアントはVanilla/Phosphor/Starlightで接続できます。同様に、クライアントにStarlightを導入している場合、Vanilla/Phosphor/Starlightのサーバーに接続できます。

StarlightはPhosphorと一緒にインストールすることはできません。完全に互換性がありません。StarlightのIssue Trackerを見ると、さらなるMODの非互換性が確認できます。Starlightはかなり破壊的なライトエンジンの書き直しであるため、MODがより頻繁に壊れることは想定しておくべきです。

目的

Starlightは大規模な専用サーバー向けに開発されました。というのも、ライトエンジンがあまりにも遅すぎたため、パフォーマンス問題に悩まされていたからです。唯一の解決策は、ライトエンジン全体を書き直す極めて侵襲的なMODを作ることでした。スナップショット中に更新できるようMODをfabricに移植し、すべてのユーザー、特にクライアントユーザー向けに公開することが有益だと判断しました。ただし、侵襲的なMODであるという欠点があります。侵襲的であることは、Bukkitで動作する大規模サーバーには影響しませんでした。

1.20のパフォーマンス:

高いyレベルでのブロック編集と、通常のブロックライト更新という2つの領域におけるパフォーマンスを示すグラフをいくつか紹介します:

ライトエンジン時間のチャンク生成グラフは、1.20では無効であるためベンチマークとして削除されました。1.20ではStarlightとVanillaは十分に近いため、このテストも役に立ちません。

Starlight (Forge)のインストール方法

With Millida Launcher

Install Millida Launcher
The launcher is free: download it at millida.net/launcher and sign in with any nickname.
Click “Install” on this page
The launcher opens and installs the mod for Minecraft 1.20.2 on Forge automatically.
Launch the game
A profile with it appears in the launcher: click “Play”.

Manually

Install Forge
The loader must match the game version of the mod file, for example Minecraft 1.20.2. After installing it, a separate profile appears in your launcher.
Download the file for your version
In the version list above, pick the file starlight-1.1.3+forge.c562a3a.jar (110 KB) for your game version.
Put it in the mods folder
The folder is inside .minecraft (Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\mods). If it does not exist, create it.
Launch the loader profile
Open “Mods” in the main menu: Starlight (Forge) should be in the list.

Minecraft 1.20.2 runs on Java 17: with a different Java version the game may close right after launch.
