互換性
Starlightは専用サーバーまたはクライアントのどちらにでもインストールできます。両側にインストールする必要はありません。サーバーにStarlightを導入している場合、クライアントはVanilla/Phosphor/Starlightで接続できます。同様に、クライアントにStarlightを導入している場合、Vanilla/Phosphor/Starlightのサーバーに接続できます。
StarlightはPhosphorと一緒にインストールすることはできません。これらは完全に互換性がありません。StarlightのIssue Trackerを見ると、さらなるmodの非互換性が確認できます。Starlightはかなり破壊的なライトエンジンの書き直しであるため、modをより頻繁に壊すことは想定されるべきです。
目的
Starlightはより大規模な専用サーバー向けに開発されました。というのも、ライトエンジンが信じられないほど遅かったため、パフォーマンス問題に悩まされていたからです。唯一の解決策は、ライトエンジン全体を書き直す極めて侵襲的なmodを作成することでした。スナップショット中に更新できるようにこのmodをfabricに移植し、すべてのユーザー、特にクライアントユーザー向けに公開することが有益だと判断しました。しかし、侵襲的なmodであるという欠点があります。侵襲的であることは、Bukkit上で動作する大規模サーバーには影響しませんでした。

Starlight (Forge)のインストール方法
With Millida Launcher
Install Millida Launcher
The launcher is free: download it at millida.net/launcher and sign in with any nickname.
Click “Install” on this page
The launcher opens and installs the mod for Minecraft 1.18.2–1.20.1 on Forge automatically.
Launch the game
A profile with it appears in the launcher: click “Play”.
Manually
Install Forge
The loader must match the game version of the mod file, for example Minecraft 1.20.1. After installing it, a separate profile appears in your launcher.
Download the file for your version
In the version list above, pick the file starlight-1.1.2+forge.1cda73c.jar (108 KB) for your game version.
Put it in the mods folder
The folder is inside .minecraft (Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\mods). If it does not exist, create it.
Launch the loader profile
Open “Mods” in the main menu: Starlight (Forge) should be in the list.
On a server
A server on Forge
The mod only works on a server with the same loader and game version, for example 1.20.1.
File goes into the server’s mods folder
Stop the server, put the mod file into the mods folder and start the server again.
Use the “To server” button
On Millida Hosting, the button at the top of the page uploads the file to your server and restarts it for you.
Minecraft 1.20.1 runs on Java 17: with a different Java version the game may close right after launch.

Which Minecraft versions does Starlight (Forge) work on?
There are files for 1.18.2–1.20.1, 7 versions in total. The newest is 1.20.1.
Is Starlight (Forge) for Forge or Fabric?
Only for Forge: 1.18.2–1.20.1. There are no files for Fabric or NeoForge: a mod for another loader will not start.
Does Starlight (Forge) need other mods?
The author lists no required dependencies: the Forge loader is enough.

Yes. Starlight (Forge) works both in singleplayer and on a server.
