Better Copper Golem

Make Copper Golems much smarter sorters. They remember what is inside the chests they checked, find their way to containers they couldn't reach before, sort into barrels, shulker boxes and modded storage, and you can tune every Copper Golem attribute.

Features

Sorts into more than chests

• Barrels, shulker boxes and modded storage like Iron Chests, Storage Drawers, Sophisticated Backpacks/Storage and Refined Storage. Each category can be turned on or off.
• Make any container a valid destination with the datapack block tag bettercoppergolem:valid_destinations.

Chest content memory

• Golems remember what is inside the containers they visited and walk straight to the right one, instead of checking the wrong chests on repeat.
• The memory is saved with the golem, so it survives chunk unloading and leaving/rejoining the world.
• You can set in config that nearby golems share what they remember with each other.
• Sneak right click a copper golem with an empty hand to make it forget what it remembers (if you have sharing memory turned on other golems will forget too).

Smarter pathing

• Golems walk to any chest they can reach, they don't need to see it first. Walls of chest and chests stacked on each other next to staircase work.
• They walk around walls instead of into them, and give up on a chest they can't reach instead of standing in front of it forever.
• Chests that only open from above (like a chest sunk into the floor) and chests diagonally below the golem (from a stair, or stacked chests) can be used.
• You can config longer reach, even through a thin wall.

Better sorting decisions

• Potion and tipped arrow sorting: choose exactly how golems tell potion variants (normal / splash / lingering) and tipped arrows apart, with 30 operation modes.
• Put items into chests that already have them first, empty chests are the last resort.
• Put similar items together, like all colors of wool or stairs of every wood type (uses Minecraft item tags).
• Golems top up stacks that are already in the chest before using an empty slot. You can config them to fill slots in order like vanilla does.
• An item that fits nowhere goes back to the copper chest and is ignored for a while, instead of the golem carrying it around forever. The golem remembers this across reloads too.

Overflow chest

• Sneak right click copper golems with redstone (you can pick multiple golems), then right click a chest or barrel with redstone within 30 seconds.
• Items a golem cant sort anywhere else go into the overflow chest, whatever it already holds, so a sorter with one overflow chest works at any carry size.
• Sneak right clicking a golem with redstone also shows its current overflow chest.
• Breaking the chest, or making the golem forget (sneak right click with an empty hand), removes it.

Change every stat

Movement speed, carry size, chest search range (horizontal and vertical), max health, interaction speed, reach and how many containers a golem checks.

Commands

You can change settings in game, no restart needed:

• /bettercoppergolem.RELOAD_CONFIG - reloads the config file
• /bettercoppergolem.<SETTING> <value> - changes one setting, for example /bettercoppergolem.CARRY_SIZE 32

Changing settings needs operator permission. MOVEMENT_SPEED and MAX_HEALTH only affect copper golems created after you restart the game. On a dedicated server, change settings in the config file.

Operation modes

Modes 1 - 4: golems see the difference in potion effect only. Potion of Strength is not the same as Potion of Regeneration, but Potion of Strength is the same as Potion of Strength II.

• 1 = potions
• 2 = splash potions
• 3 = lingering potions
• 4 = tipped arrows

Modes 5 - 8: golems see the difference in potion effect and level. Potion of Strength is not the same as Potion of Regeneration, and Potion of Strength is not the same as Potion of Strength II.

• 5 = potions
• 6 = splash potions
• 7 = lingering potions
• 8 = tipped arrows

You have to have something equipped in offhand and shift(sneak) right click golem to clear its memory.
