Superb Steeds aims to reduce the tedium and increase the usefulness of horses!
The features this mod offers are:
- Horses no longer have determined statistics upon breeding, but instead every horse has a strength value from 1-5 in speed and jump.
- This is shown in an extended section of the horse inventory GUI.
- These stats can be trained by simply riding the horse with a saddle, and will increase over time.
- Horses no longer require a saddle to be controlled. This will however not count towards training.
- Saddles will prevent a horse from bucking.
- You can feed horses while riding them by interacting with it with a food item (excluding hay bales) while looking down.
- Items apply their consume effects when fed to horses.
- All horses have 15 hearts instead of a variable amount.
- Leather horse armor allows horses to safely ride over powder snow.
- Skeleton Horses are no longer slowed by Soul Sand.
- Llamas can be trained to have more inventory slots by leading them around.

Click “Install” on this page
The launcher opens and installs the mod for Minecraft 1.21.10–26.3 on Fabric, NeoForge or Quilt automatically, together with its dependencies: Dependency, Forgified Fabric API, Fabric API.
Launch the game
A profile with it appears in the launcher: click “Play”.
Manually
Install Fabric, NeoForge or Quilt
The loader must match the game version of the mod file, for example Minecraft 26.3. After installing it, a separate profile appears in your launcher.
Download the file for your version
In the version list above, pick the file superb-steeds-fabric-26.3-r1.jar (45 KB) for your game version and loader.
Put it in the mods folder
The folder is inside .minecraft (Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\mods). If it does not exist, create it. Required dependencies go there too: Dependency, Forgified Fabric API, Fabric API.
Launch the loader profile
Open “Mods” in the main menu: Superb Steeds should be in the list.
On a server
A server on Fabric, NeoForge or Quilt
The mod only works on a server with the same loader and game version, for example 26.3.
File goes into the server’s mods folder
Stop the server, put the mod file into the mods folder and start the server again.
Use the “To server” button
On Millida Hosting, the button at the top of the page uploads the file to your server and restarts it for you.
