Any mistake hits your servers, and doing something like that in a hurry is scary. But the last few days showed that staying on someone else's platform, which is either full of holes or breaks with every patch, is even scarier. How it went. We put together a small local team and rewrote VM6 for ourselves. Not a patch on top of someone else's code, but our own panel that we understand down to the last line and can fix ourselves without waiting for yet another "brilliant patch." We tested at night on live machines, not on an empty test bench. But we chose the least loaded node for it. We did this on purpose: if a bug happens, as few clients as possible will be affected. Only after that did we migrate the rest of the servers, and the billing panel picked up the panel. There were some nuances. When reinstalling the system, packages need to be updated. We automated this, but in the rush we forgot to warn about it in the billing panel. Now there's a warning, and the buttons are locked during the update so the process isn't interrupted.
