Config Manager is a Minecraft mod that allows modpack developers to ship configuration files in a simple and user-friendly way. It supports both NeoForge and Fabric, starting from Minecraft 1.20.1 and newer.
Features
Ship modpack defaults without overriding user preferences
- Place your modpack’s default configuration files in /config/modpack_defaults.
- At startup, all files from that directory are copied into the Minecraft directory only if they do not already exist.
Examples:
- .minecraft/config/modpack_defaults/options.txt → copied to .minecraft/options.txt
- .minecraft/config/modpack_defaults/config/myMod.json → copied to .minecraft/config/myMod.json
This ensures that user settings are preserved across modpack updates.
Update or reset to the modpack’s defaults
From the mod list (NeoForge) or Mod Menu (Fabric), you can open the Config Manager GUI and choose between two actions:
- Update – Copies (overwriting) the modpack’s config files on top of the user’s.
- All settings changed by the pack are updated.
- Untouched settings remain as configured by the user.
- Reset – Wipes the entire config directory and replaces it with the files shipped by the modpack.
- Useful to fix broken or corrupted installations.

The launcher is free: download it at millida.net/launcher and sign in with any nickname.
Click “Install” on this page
The launcher opens and installs the mod for Minecraft 1.20.1–26.3 on Fabric, NeoForge or Quilt automatically.
Launch the game
A profile with it appears in the launcher: click “Play”.
Manually
Install Fabric, NeoForge or Quilt
The loader must match the game version of the mod file, for example Minecraft 26.3. After installing it, a separate profile appears in your launcher.
Download the file for your version
In the version list above, pick the file ConfigManager-neoforge-26.1_26.2-1.1.3.jar (148 KB) for your game version and loader.
Put it in the mods folder
The folder is inside .minecraft (Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\mods). If it does not exist, create it.
Launch the loader profile
Open “Mods” in the main menu: Config Manager should be in the list.
On a server
A server on Fabric, NeoForge or Quilt
The mod only works on a server with the same loader and game version, for example 26.3.
File goes into the server’s mods folder
Stop the server, put the mod file into the mods folder and start the server again.
Use the “To server” button
On Millida Hosting, the button at the top of the page uploads the file to your server and restarts it for you.

Is Config Manager for Forge or Fabric?
There are files for Fabric: 1.20.1–26.3, for NeoForge: 1.21.9–26.3 and for Quilt: 1.20.1–26.3. There are no files for Forge: a mod for another loader will not start.
