बेड में ब्लॉक एंटिटी रेंडरर का उपयोग आख़िर क्यों किया जाता है? जब 1.12 में बेड जोड़े गए थे, तब गेम अभी भी पुराने ब्लॉक आईडी सिस्टम का उपयोग कर रहा था, जिसमें सीमित संख्या में ही आईडी की अनुमति थी। चूँकि 1.12 ने कई नए ब्लॉक जोड़े, गेम की आईडी ख़त्म हो रही थीं, इसलिए डेवलपर्स ने आईडी बचाने के लिए बेड को ब्लॉक एंटिटी + रेंडरर बना दिया। 1.13 (The Flattening) में एक नया आईडी सिस्टम पेश किया गया, जिससे असीमित आईडी की अनुमति मिल गई, लेकिन बेड ब्लॉक एंटिटी और उसके रेंडरर को छुआ तक नहीं गया।
