A simple GUI mod to edit an item, a block or an entity in your current world.

Update (October 31st 2024):

After almost 8 years of maintaining IBE Editor, I will pause this project indefinitely.

Recent updates (read: the replacement of NBT by Components in 1.20.5) have made it impossible to simply maintain the mod without having to rewrite a large portion of it. That combined with the fast release cycle, the mod is already a few versions behind, and I am simply not able to keep up with the pace.

I am also not as invested into the mod as I used to be because I don't even use it myself anymore. This project started back in 2017 as a little tool I created to help me to create custom items in adventure maps. I decided to share it with the community and eventually a lot of people started using it, which I did not expect.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, I know you all wanted an update, but I don't want to lie to you, it won't be coming (at least, not from me). The GitHub repository has been archived. Anyone is free to fork the project or to make their own spin based on it.

Thank you all for your support, Skye

Important: the mod does not support Minecraft 1.20.5 and above due to the new component system.

It is compatible with both Forge and Fabric mod loaders.

The Fabric version of the mod requires Fabric API.

How to install IBE Editor

With Millida Launcher

  1. Install Millida Launcher

The launcher is free: download it at millida.net/launcher and sign in with any nickname.

  2. Click “Install” on this page

The launcher opens and installs the mod for Minecraft 1.20–1.20.4 on Fabric, Forge or NeoForge automatically, together with its dependencies: Fabric API.

  3. Launch the game

A profile with it appears in the launcher: click “Play”.

Manually

  1. Install Fabric, Forge or NeoForge

The loader must match the game version of the mod file, for example Minecraft 1.20.4. After installing it, a separate profile appears in your launcher.

  2. Download the file for your version

In the version list above, pick the file IBEEditor-1.20.4-2.2.8-neoforge.jar (930 KB) for your game version and loader.

  3. Put it in the mods folder

The folder is inside .minecraft (Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\mods). If it does not exist, create it. Required dependencies go there too: Fabric API.

  4. Launch the loader profile

Open “Mods” in the main menu: IBE Editor should be in the list.

On a server

  1. A server on Fabric, Forge or NeoForge

The mod only works on a server with the same loader and game version, for example 1.20.4.

  2. File goes into the server’s mods folder

Stop the server, put the mod file into the mods folder and start the server again.

  3. Use the “To server” button

On Millida Hosting, the button at the top of the page uploads the file to your server and restarts it for you.

Minecraft 1.20.4 runs on Java 17: with a different Java version the game may close right after launch.
