About the Combat Effects mod

A modpack utility mod that allows applying effects when entities engage in combat. Supports regex!

This can be useful for things such as:

  • Applying a specific effect while fighting bosses
  • Applying poison/bleeding on hit for certain entities
  • Applying an effect (e.g., glow) when players engage in PvP
  • Anything else involving applying effects while in combat

How to install Combat Effects

With Millida Launcher

  1. Install Millida Launcher

The launcher is free: download it at millida.net/launcher and sign in with any nickname.

  2. Click “Install” on this page

The launcher opens and installs the mod for Minecraft 1.20.1–1.21.1 on Fabric, NeoForge or Quilt automatically, together with its dependencies: Necronomicon API.

  3. Launch the game

A profile with it appears in the launcher: click “Play”.

Manually

  1. Install Fabric, NeoForge or Quilt

The loader must match the game version of the mod file, for example Minecraft 1.21.1. After installing it, a separate profile appears in your launcher.

  2. Download the file for your version

In the version list above, pick the file combat_effects-neoforge-1.0.0-1.21.1.jar (11 KB) for your game version and loader.

  3. Put it in the mods folder

The folder is inside .minecraft (Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\mods). If it does not exist, create it. Required dependencies go there too: Necronomicon API.

  4. Launch the loader profile

Open “Mods” in the main menu: Combat Effects should be in the list.

On a server

  1. A server on Fabric, NeoForge or Quilt

The mod only works on a server with the same loader and game version, for example 1.21.1.

  2. File goes into the server’s mods folder

Stop the server, put the mod file into the mods folder and start the server again.

  3. Or use the “To hosting” button

On Millida Hosting, the button at the top of the page uploads the file to your server and restarts it for you.

Minecraft 1.21.1 runs on Java 21: with a different Java version the game may close right after launch.

FAQ

Which Minecraft versions does Combat Effects work on?

There are files for 1.21.1, 1.20.1. The newest is 1.21.1.

Is Combat Effects for Forge or Fabric?

There are files for Fabric: 1.20.1–1.21.1, for NeoForge: 1.21.1 and for Quilt: 1.20.1–1.21.1. There are no files for Forge: a mod for another loader will not start.

What does Combat Effects need to work?

Required: Necronomicon API. Without it the mod will not start: dependencies go into the same mods folder.

Do players need to install Combat Effects?

No. Combat Effects works on the server side: it is installed on the server only, and players do not need to download anything.

Which Java does Combat Effects need?

Minecraft 1.21.1 runs on Java 21. If the game closes right after launch, the usual cause is the wrong Java version in the profile settings.

Where can I download Combat Effects safely?

On this page: the file combat_effects-neoforge-1.0.0-1.21.1.jar (11 KB) is stored on Millida’s server, with no link shorteners. SHA-1 checksum: 369ec00f812ec9533615a7237b63c16f4f72360c.
