About the ChemLib mod

ChemLib - Elements & Compounds Library

This library adds over 950+ items to Minecraft, with the intention of adding all known chemical elements, along with many compounds, metals, liquids, and gases that exists in the real world. The purpose of this library is to provide a shared source of items, blocks, and fluids for chemistry and tech mods. It was originally developed exclusively for the Alchemistry mod but can now be used by any mod!

Chem Lib is a simple mod that adds plenty of chemistry related items including:

  • All 118 chemical elements found on the periodic table.
  • Ingots, nuggets, dusts, and plates for all elements that make sense (i.e. all except for gases, mercury, iron, gold, etc).
  • Dozens of chemical compounds, in solid, liquid, and gas forms.
  • Gases and liquids in bucket or block form (upside-down bucket is for gases, regular bucket is for liquids).
  • Redstone powered gas lamps and metal blocks for all elements that make sense.
  • An interactive periodic table of elements that players can craft.

How to install ChemLib

With Millida Launcher

  1. Install Millida Launcher

The launcher is free: download it at millida.net/launcher and sign in with any nickname.

  2. Click “Install” on this page

The launcher opens and installs the mod for Minecraft 1.18.2–1.21.5 on Forge or NeoForge automatically.

  3. Launch the game

A profile with it appears in the launcher: click “Play”.

Manually

  1. Install Forge or NeoForge

The loader must match the game version of the mod file, for example Minecraft 1.21.5. After installing it, a separate profile appears in your launcher.

  2. Download the file for your version

In the version list above, pick the file chemlib-1.21.5-2.1.8.jar (13 MB) for your game version and loader.

  3. Put it in the mods folder

The folder is inside .minecraft (Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\mods). If it does not exist, create it.

  4. Launch the loader profile

Open “Mods” in the main menu: ChemLib should be in the list.

Minecraft 1.21.5 runs on Java 21: with a different Java version the game may close right after launch.

FAQ

Which Minecraft versions does ChemLib work on?

There are files for 1.21.5, 1.19.1, 1.18.2. The newest is 1.21.5.

Is ChemLib for Forge or Fabric?

There are files for Forge: 1.18.2–1.19.1 and for NeoForge: 1.21.5. There are no files for Fabric: a mod for another loader will not start.

Does ChemLib need other mods?

The author lists no required dependencies: the Forge or NeoForge loader is enough.

Which Java does ChemLib need?

Minecraft 1.21.5 runs on Java 21. If the game closes right after launch, the usual cause is the wrong Java version in the profile settings.
