What’s New in Plagues & Masquerades V2.1

Welcome to Version 2.1! Darkness, pestilence, and tactical siege warfare have descended upon the realm. Here is a showcase of the major features, mechanical overhauls, and additions waiting for you in the latest update.

Heavy Armaments & Flail Combat

Upgrade your arsenal with specialized gear, protective gear, and sweeping AoE attacks.

New Gear & Wearables

Executioner's Garb & Plague Mask: Equipping the Plague Mask grants complete immunity against the pestilence.

Shrouded Coat: Defeat the Plague Doctor to claim this coat and unlock its special ability.

Shield & Weapon Reworks

Shield Bash: Crouching with a fully charged large round shield and punching flings you forward into the enemy line.

Flail Special Abilities: Holding interact with the War Ravager or Steel Flail unleashes devastating AoE damage to surrounding targets. The War Ravager scales up to 3x damage the longer you charge it.

Bleed Stacking: Repeatedly striking a bleeding target with a bleed weapon now stacks and intensifies the effect over time.

Plagues, Bio-Warfare & The Doctor

Pestilence now spreads across entities, clogs player inventories, and reshapes kingdom defense.

Infection & Remedies

Inventory Mucus: Plagued players will quickly find their inventory filled with mucus; fail to clear it in time and up to 5 inventory slots will lock completely.

The Nighttime Doctor: Track down The Doctor in spooky biomes at night. He is your sole source for herbal seeds, which are grown and brewed to craft the plague cure.

Siege Bio-Warfare & Health Crest

Seeping Bag & Grotesque Siege: Slay a zombie with a Seeping Bag, load it into a catapult, and launch a grotesque payload into enemy strongholds to infect their forces. (Can only be cleansed with fire!)

Crest of Health: Protects your kingdom from rat outbreaks, enables automatic healing for your citizens, and unlocks a one-time offensive rat attack against rival factions.

Overhauled Sieges & Dynamic Events

Siege warfare has transformed into a multi-phase tactical battle requiring strategy and vigilance.

Siege Requirements: Laying siege now requires functional siege engines (trebuchets, catapults, siege towers, battering rams) or a dedicated force of 10+ troops positioned directly outside enemy walls.

Supply Lines & Sally-Outs: Stop enemy supply carts from reaching the garrison to keep the starve-out timer moving, and defend your engines against illager sally-out attacks.

Storm the Castle: Sound your Goat Horn once the starve-out phase finishes to launch the final assault on the garrison.

Ominous Siege Difficulty: Drink an Ominous Bottle before placing your siege weaponry to ramp up the challenge.

Kingdom Management & The Jester

Manage unit movements, kingdom morale, and economic balances.

The Jester: Hire the Jester with emeralds to entertain your villagers, or give him an Emerald Block for a major morale surge. If total kingdom collapse threatens, the Jester can spend coins from his own wallet to prevent it (up to 3 times per kingdom).

Patrols & Formations: Units now walk to assigned positions in commander view. Set up custom patrol paths around your walls and take advantage of an added 30 seconds to the commander timer.

Taxation System: Adjust tax rates high or low to balance kingdom income against citizen morale.

Machines!

The Chariot

Works very similarly to the siege cart you can link this chariot to a horse when ran into, when a gladiator rides the chariot a royal horse will automatically pull the chariot! The chariot is dyable in all colors!

The Vassal Ship

Your transport vessel for moving troops across the Minecraft seas. This ship carries up to 6 units plus the driver, making it perfect for large-scale deployments. Fully commandable using the fleet drums and banner claim mechanics, you can assemble and control your own imperial fleet.

The ship is also upgradable, interact with a shield, goat horn, or ballista to apply enhancements. Please note: only one upgrade can be active at a time.

The Siege Cart

Command this mobile fortress with any rideable mob and roll into battle! Transport your troops directly to the front lines, launch attacks from the safety of the cart, and breach enemy walls with your allies at your side!

Siege cart upgrades now interact with specific items to grant passives:

Shield: Increased health.

Brewing Stand: Passive healing at the cost of reduced base health.

Banners/Banner Flags: Units riding the siege cart will be tamed every 60 seconds.

Sieged! — screenshot 8

Siege Carts can now form a moving convoy behind any player carrying a Siege Cart, similar to Vassal Ships.

The Brazier

The brazier is the first uncraftable siege device. Whether used defensively or offensively, this device will set your arrows ablaze! But not just with ordinary fire from the base game. It'll actually ignite the block it lands on!

Sieged! — screenshot 9

The Siege Tower

Command the mighty siege tower, push the tower towards enemy walls and invade directly into the compound. Ideally you would use this as an alternative to get soldiers onto castle walls if they are too formidable for the battering ram.

Sieged! — screenshot 10

The Ballista

A precision siege weapon that fires high-damage arrows. Perfect for defending fortifications or providing ranged support during attacks. Requires arrows and the Firing Staff to operate.

Sieged! — screenshot 11

The Catapult

A short-range siege weapon delivering explosive payloads. Perfect for crowd control and targeting specific castle weak points. Ideal for opening assaults and breaking through initial defenses. This siege weapon fires at where the player is looking.

Sieged! — screenshot 12

The Trebuchet

The ultimate long-range devastation machine. Launches massive fiery explosions that cannot be aimed once placed, the trebuchet locks to its face direction. Plan your siege positions wisely before deployment.

This Feature has been replaced, Now when you interact with a spy glass on the trebuchet it will show you the boulders flight path with particles!

Sieged! — screenshot 13

The Battering Ram

A slow force designed to destroy walls and gates. Prime the ram with the Firing Staff, then activate again to release its devastating charge. The ram can only go straight, so make sure you plan your path accordingly!

Be aware enemy units can claim your battering ram and use it against you to prevent that use a named banner to claim your weapon

Building & Movement:

Sieged! — screenshot 15

Once placed, you will see an opaque outline of the siege weapon interacting with the building material will progressively build the siege weapon, in this state you can crouch and and interact before to rotate the siege machine and finalizing the construction after its built the siege weapons cannot be moved (except for the battering ram). You must know exactly where you want them! If the siege weapons are destroyed, they will drop pieces from the recipe, NOT the siege weapon! They are expensive to craft, so there are some opportunities to move them via lead, which makes the happy ghast a little more useful ;)

Claim System:

Siege weapons and Units have claim systems. This is a feature that will likely be worked on in the future. To claim a Unit or siege weapon, crouch and interact with any named banner and that siege weapon and Unit will only fire if its in your inventory and attack other players. The claiming system for units unfortunately does not let you have allied players only use banner mechanics if you are a lone player.

Sieged! — screenshot 16

Field Repairs: You can now repair damaged siege weapons and Wooden Gates using planks and logs by crouching and interacting with them.

Battering Rams: Underlying code has been rewritten for more consistent operational physics.

Ballista Tuning: Target firing logic has been perfected; ballistas will no longer fire if they lack a direct line of sight. They now visually fire high-velocity javelin entities while remaining loaded with standard arrows to keep ammunition costs balanced.

Siege Defences:

Castle Gate:

A massive fortified gate built to seal castle entrances. Interact to open or close it on command. Requires Town-tier castle development or higher to construct.
